What is In-Kind?

Head Start is required to cost share or match a portion (20%) of program costs that are otherwise funded through the federal government. This cost share is referred to as "In Kind". This cost share must be supported by our community.

Third party in-kind contributions means the value of non-cash contributions provided by non-Federal third parties. Third party in-kind contributions may be in the form of real property, equipment, supplies, and other expendable property, and the value of goods and services directly benefiting and specifically identifiable to the project or program. The three main types of in-kind are the donated use of space, volunteers, and other (supplies, etc.).
